“Mom and Dad, can you shoot hoops with us?” That’s a familiar plea heard around the house of Aaron and Jamie Brose of Batavia. Yet, these parents of three active boys are always happy to accommodate such a request because they have a true home court advantage. Just steps out their backdoor sits a beautiful Sport Court that has enough multi-purpose use to keep a group of youngsters engaged and active for a lifetime.
“This court has given us the ability to maximize our time together as a family,” says Jamie. “We want to create as many memories as possible back here.”
The idea of creating a backyard court began in 2015 for the Brose family. To help them tackle the project they contacted Gamechanger Athletics, LLC., a local company that helps Cincinnati families build custom courts and gyms. “Our court builder was great to work with and we built trust very quickly,” remarked Aaron. “It was a worry-free process and we loved working with just one contractor from start to finish,” added Jamie.
The Brose family loves how the court is so versatile. The boys spend a majority of their time playing full court basketball, but they can also play volleyball, badminton, paddle tennis, soccer, shuffleboard, and other games. The most innovative feature is a quick-clip batting cage that extends the length of the court that can be put up and down quickly and easily.
Aaron and Jamie love how the court keeps the boys active rather than playing video games for hours on end. The court also attracts the boy’s friends. “We just look out the windows into the backyard and we can see who they are hanging out with and we always know where they are at,” says Aaron.
While the Brose family still has a number of years to enjoy their court together, they are mindful to make sure they are enjoying every moment. They know their little athletes go from treasured T-ballers to high school glory in the blink of an eye. Any empty nester will tell you the journey goes by so fast and you have to capture every memory while you can. This family certainly will.
