Worth the Drive: Ohio’s Free Christmas Cave

Looking for something a little different this holiday season? Just two hours east of Cincinnati, you’ll find a new-to-Ohio tradition that’s truly something special.

Worth the Drive: Ohio’s Free Christmas Cave:

The Christmas Cave is located in Minford, OH. Now in its third season, the display features nearly a mile of self-guided displays, both above and below ground in the White Gravel Mines. The mine’s mysterious passages are decked out with lights depicting the Christmas story, including three Nativity exhibits. In addition, there are also two tunnels of lights and new outdoor displays.

Although it’s a newer holiday tradition, it’s already become quite popular. Last year, 33,000 people walked its grounds during the holiday season, some traveling hundreds of miles to see the spectacle.

The caves are open every Friday and Saturday between Black Friday and Christmas from 4-10 pm. The best part about it? It’s free (however, donations are welcome — donations can be made on The Christmas Cave’s grounds, or by clicking here).

The Christmas Cave is located at 4007 White Gravel McDaniel Road, Minford, OH. For directions and more information, click here.
