Summer may be winding down, but the best days lie ahead! As temps cool and autumn arrives, there is lots of fun to be had in Cincinnati. This weekend is a prime example, with several outdoor festivals, loads of family friendly activities — and a marionette show at The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati!

The Jungle Book: The Story of Mowgli’s Fire
Shows run Thurs., Aug. 25 – Sun., Aug. 28 at The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati
Marionettes + Mowgli = Memorizing! This weekend, the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is hosting The Frisch Marionette Company’s production of Jungle Book: The Story of Mowgli’s Fire. Not only is this a fun way to get your kids excited about theatre, it’s also a great chance to check out TCT’s brand-new Ralph and Patricia Corbett Showtime Stage in their facility on Red Bank Road.
Taste of Blue Ash
Fri., Aug. 26 – Sun., Aug. 28 at Summit Park
Just as Taste of Cincinnati welcomes the start of summer, Taste of Blue Ash bids the season farewell. But don’t be sad! This weekend-long celebration features the standard array of festival fun (megaslides, anyone?), plus food, food, food! And the icing on the (Buskin) cake? Admission is free.
Germania Society Oktoberfest
Fri., Aug. 26 – Sun., Aug. 28 at Germania Society of Cincinnati
In Zinzinnati, fall means Oktoberfest. Kick the season off right at Germania Society’s celebration, which features a feast of homemade German foods: sauerbraten, Oktoberfest chicken, pastries, pretzels, brats, metts, potato salad, coleslaw, cream puffs and sauerkraut balls. Oh, and there’s also lots of entertainment for all ages.
PJ Library Park Days at Camp Livingston
Sun., Aug. 28 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Soak up the last bit of summer camp fun at Camp Livingston! Camp Livingston sits on 680 acres of beautifully wooded land in Bennington, Indiana, and includes a lake with paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, trampolines and water slides. Additionally, Camp Livingston sports a low-ropes course, swimming pool, baseball diamond, basketball courts, athletic fields and an arts and crafts center. Cost is just $10/person; RSVP required.
Cheetah Run 5K
Sun., Aug. 28 at The Cincinnati Zoo
Run for a purpose! All Cheetah Run proceeds benefit our beloved Cincinnati Zoo, one of the oldest non profits in the city. Kids 12 and under can participate in a free Cheetah “Cub” Fun Run, which is a great way to get your youngest cubs involved. The best part? After the race, your family can stay and explore the Zoo for free! We highly recommend checking out Hippo Cove and Baby Cora while you’re there.
