The Camp at the JCC will feature Drone Camps this summer!

The Mayerson JCC (“the J”) is again expanding its Camp at the J opportunities during the summer of 2018. A new partnership with Rockwern Academy will enable younger children to experience camp for the first time under the guidance of experienced educators, as well as a variety of new specialty camp offerings. Most notably, Drone Camp is now offered at the JCC!

The Explorers, a bunk for rising Pre-K campers, is a partnership of the Mayerson JCC’s Camp at the J
and Rockwern Academy. Led by Rockwern Academy teachers and Camp at the J adult counselors,
Explorers will get to experience all the games, swimming, crafts, and fun of outdoor day camp within a
developmentally appropriate atmosphere. Designated quiet time will ensure Explorers have the energy
to make the most of their first camp experience. Explorers will be offered throughout all four sessions
of Camp at the J.

“We are excited to welcome Pre-K campers to camp again this summer. Our partnership with
Rockwern will be a great addition to camp, helping to support our youngest campers as they enter
Pre-K,” said Judith Rapport, Camp Director for Camp at the J. “Campers of all ages will have a fun
summer at Camp at the J.”

The Mayerson JCC has also added to its camp leadership staff following the recent addition of Judith
Rapport as Camp Director. Jeremy Miller will join the Camp at the J staff as a seasonal Assistant
Camp Director. Miller knows Camp at the J well, having previously worked as a Unit Head and as
Sports Director/Counselor.

This summer, the J is expanding its unique specialty camp offerings in 2018. In addition to traditional
Camp at the J favorites like horseback riding and Camp We-Go-Out, which enables campers to get to
explore Cincinnati with fun field trips, this year’s camp will feature a Tennis and Golf Camp, in which
campers will learn the basics of both sports from the professionals at Losantiville Country Club.

Camp at the J will also feature Drone Camps hosted through Drobots Company. These exciting new
camps will include specialized opportunities for campers in grades 3-5 and 6-8. Drobots Drone Camps
will teach valuable STEM-based skills while enabling kids to learn about the basics of drone
technology, as well as the safety and social responsibility of flying drones.

The Mayerson JCC’s Camp at the J welcomes more than 250 campers each summer to four weeks of
traditional day camp, including swim lessons, archery, arts & crafts, sports & games, camp values, and
color wars. Camp at the J is proud to offer an inclusive summer camp program that welcomes children
of all abilities to have an enjoyable, meaningful summer camp experience. Camp staff receive specific
training and ongoing support to accommodate campers who may benefit from more positive behavior
techniques and social skills coaching by a 1:1 advocate.
