TCT Now Casting for 2019-20 MainStage Shows!
The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT) is holding auditions in August for two MainStage productions in their 100th Season. Actors can audition for Annie Jr. and Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical.
TCT is the nation’s oldest children’s theatre and is a professional theatre company. All roles are paid positions. TCT is passionate about creating an inclusive workplace and committed to diverse casting process. All roles are open to all ethnicities and backgrounds.
Young Artists ages 9-18 and Adults 18+ may make an audition appointment. Please note: you only need one audition appointment even if you are interested in both productions. Upon audition registration, you may indicate which shows you would like to be considered for this season. Auditions are by appointment only.

Appointments can be made for:
- Monday, August 12 between 5:30 and 8:30 pm
- Tuesday, August 13 between 5:30 and 8:30 pm
- Wednesday, August 14 between 5:30 and 8:30 pm
- Thursday, August 15 between 5:30 and 8:30 pm
You may be asked to return and attend a “movement callback” on the day of your audition, which will take place from 8:30 PM to 9:30 pm.
- Annie Jr. callbacks will take place on Saturday, August 17, 10 am-2:30 pm
- Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical callbacks will take place on Sunday, August 18, 6-10 pm

PREPARE
Please prepare one memorized song that best shows your vocal range. (1-minute max). The song must be age appropriate. Remember to have your PIANO SHEET MUSIC, as we will NOT be auditioning your a cappella skills. An accompanist will be provided. Your sheet music MUST have the piano part, not just the vocal line, and music should be in a 3-ring binder with the cut CLEARLY marked for the accompanist.
You only need a song. You do NOT need to prepare a monologue.
You may be asked to show your dance ability later in the evening. Please bring attire with you to change into in case we ask you to return.
You must bring a RECENT 8×10 headshot and UPDATED performance resume. Even if you upload to the audition website, a hardcopy of your headshot and resume is required.
Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes ahead of your appointment to check/correct previously submitted paperwork. If we are ahead of schedule, we may audition you early.
Due to concentrated rehearsal periods, we ask that you do not have conflicts during rehearsals. In an effort to best facilitate all rehearsal times, all those auditioning will be asked to list all conflicts at the time of the audition. Conflicts will result in a stipend adjustment. Please take note of when rehearsals begin, the day and evening tech and performance schedule, and bring your calendar with you to the audition.

Leapin’ Lizards! Kick off Leap Year with us! The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world’s best-loved musicals. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

MISS HANNIGAN: Adult Female, a definite “has been” with a distaste for her job and the “little girls” she is surrounded by. Seeking a strong Actor, Singer, Comedienne, with wonderful comedic timing.
GRACE FARRELL: Adult Female, Oliver Warbucks’ calm, cool, and classy secretary. A strong business minded woman with a soft maternal side. Seeking a strong Singer, Actor, Dancer
OLIVER WARBUCKS: Adult Male, the daunting millionaire who made his fortune during World War 1 as an industrialist. A self-assured, confident man who is charmed by Annie’s kindness and optimism. Seeking strong Actor, Dancer, Singer with a commanding presence.
ROOSTER: Adult Male, Miss Hannigan’s swindling brother and con man who disguises himself as Ralph Mudge in an attempt to collect Warbucks’ reward money. Seeking strong Actor, Singer, Dancer with natural comedic timing.
LILY: Adult Female, Rooster Hannigan’s featherbrained girlfriend who disguises herself as Shirley Mudge in an attempt to collect Warbucks’ reward money. Seeking strong Actor, Singer, Dancer, with strong comedic timing.
THE ORPHANS: Female, to portray ages 6-13, gritty girls who are neglected and vulnerable yet still honest, loveable, and mischievous. MR. WORMWOOD: Adult Male, Matilda’s un-caring father, a slimy, greedy used-car salesman. Seeking strong Actor, Singer with great comedic abilities.
