It’s a new year and what better resolution is there than to make more time for YOU in 2018? As parents, we tend to spend all of our energy (and money) on our kids, but it’s essential that we make time for ourselves. If you’re like me, this time of year is all about starting new, organizing, purging, and looking forward to a fresh start. This includes my closet, which I recently went through to see what I could get rid of and what I may need in the upcoming months. After checking that off the list, I made a trip to Clothes Mentor to see what wardrobe treasures I could find.
Have you heard of Clothes Mentor? They have nearby locations in Hyde Park, West Chester, Fields Ertel and Anderson and specialize as a buy/sell shop of designer and popular clothing for women. But that’s just the beginning. They offer sizes 0-26, as well as maternity and also a great selection of shoes, handbags and accessories. It’s really the perfect place to stock up on wardrobe staples, while also adding a few special pieces to your closet.
I never buy any piece of clothing at full price – for my kids or myself. That being said… I love nice clothes. I tend to keep my closet full of basics that I know I’ll wear nonstop and then add a few trendier pieces here and there. Clothes Mentor is perfect for this approach and they really have something for everyone. I went in during this particular shopping trip with a few outfit ideas in mind for the New Year: outfits for a workout, time with my kids, a date night, and a girls’ night out.
If you have trouble making decisions or stepping out of your comfort zone when it comes to clothing, then Clothes Mentor can help with their (free!) personal shopping service. One of their friendly staff members will help you search for items that meet your goals and offer their advice. (Of course, you’re welcome to just browse and shop on your own, as well.) I made a trip through the store, pulling things that I thought met what I was looking for, then heading to the dressing room. I was pretty successful and you won’t believe how many outfits you can get for what you might pay for one pair of jeans at the mall.
If you do happen to have some clothes that you’re ready to part with, consider taking them to Clothes Mentor and earning a little extra cash. They describe this process on their website here, and even have suggestions for brands and types of clothing they prefer. Clothes Mentor also offers great sales throughout the year, so be on the lookout for those!
If you feel like you want a fresh look to go along with the fresh start of the New Year, then check out one of the Cincinnati-area Clothes Mentor stores. And do not feel the least bit guilty about spending a little time – and money – on yourself, if it makes you happy and confident! For all the details about Clothes Mentor and addresses of the stores, visit their website here.
A native Cincinnatian, Andrea has experienced life in all four corners of this city. After growing up on the west side, she headed north to attend Miami University, then moved east to Hyde Park and now lives in Northern Kentucky with her family.
When she’s not playing trains and doing the “hot dog dance” as a stay-at-home mom to her two toddlers, Andrea is busy writing for Cincinnati (and, ahem, Kentucky!) publications and brainstorming ideas for her next children’s book! With a newfound passion for fitness and overall health, she spends a lot of time at her family gym and loves to play outside.
Andrea worked in education for several years and has a special love for children’s literature. She loves showing her children all our city has to offer and enjoys sharing her finds with other parents. Her favorite spots include the Cincinnati Zoo (although she steers clear of the bird house), her local library and any playground.
