Neltner’s Farm Festival

There’s something to love about every season in Cincinnati, but I have to admit that I look forward to fall most of all. I’ve always been a fan of the weather, the changing leaves, the sound of marching bands at high school football games, and the smell of chili on the stove. It’s also a season I remember fondly from childhood as a time that we would always visit a local pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin and other fall festivities. This is one tradition that I definitely continue with my own children and there are so many options to do so in the Queen City. But one place we always visit this time of year is Neltner’s Farm for their annual Fall Festival.

Neltner’s Farm Festival has it all and if you’re looking for a place to turn into a tradition for your family, definitely consider this local gem.

Neltner’s Farm is a family owned property in Northern Kentucky, just 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. It’s easy to reach, just off the AA Highway, for those in Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana, and it offers all of the fall fun you can imagine. We love this farm for so many reasons, and one of them is the natural beauty of the property. It’s a lovely valley farm, with open space for the kids to roam, animals grazing on the hill, and pumpkins perfectly positioned in the patch. It’s basically an idyllic children’s book come to life.

My children – ages five and four – particularly love Neltner’s Farm Festival because of the wide variety of things to do. You get your money’s worth with many activities included in the price of admission. Admission for ages 3 and up is $5, and that includes horse drawn wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, a 2+ acre corn maze, live music, and access to the property that has a charming model train display, and much more. There are also pony rides and barrel train rides which are $3 per person and a petting zoo where you can feed goats and sheep for 50 cents/cup.

In addition to all of that, Neltner’s has really made their farm a festival atmosphere with a large tent filled with face painters, vendors, ice cream makers, and even wine tastings! The live music that plays from 1:30 – 4:30 pm each weekend afternoon also takes you back in time and adds to the charm. There’s plenty to do to keep busy for a few hours, and then you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy a meal under the vibrant fall trees. This food is grilled and made fresh, and perfectly rounds out a visit to the farm.

With so many farms and festivals in Cincinnati during this season, it’s difficult to decide which one is best for your family. The great thing about Neltner’s Farm Festival is that there is a little bit of everything, and something for everyone. I absolutely love the attention to detail on the property and the friendliness of everyone we meet. The kids love the activities and that it’s now a familiar place that even they recognize as a tradition. If you’re trying to pick just one festival to attend this year, or are looking to try something new, check out Neltner’s Farm Fall Festival, and you can find more information here.

Neltner’s Farm Festival takes place Saturdays and Sundays through October 28th from 10 am to 6 pm. The farm is also open during the week, but keep in mind that not all weekend activities are available.
