National Believe Day

Several years ago I was a server at Planet Hollywood. One thing I loved about that job was the people I was able to meet. There were a few musicians that came in, lots of athletes and a couple of well-known actors, but they weren’t the people that were most memorable to me.

On more than one occasion, I had the privilege of being a part of a child’s special day organized and funded by Make-A-Wish. Make-a-Wish grants wishes to people with life-threatening medical conditions. The smiles on the Make a Wish kids’ faces as I served them lunch was priceless. Their meal was usually a preview before a big day of events that included going to the zoo or to a ballgame. Even though each child was terribly ill, in that moment, sitting at a restaurant with family and friends, that child was on top of the world.

If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of a Make-A-Wish child’s day, now is your chance.

Macy’s department store, an annual Make-A-Wish partner, is celebrating the season with its Believe campaign. Macy’s Believe campaign invites kids of all ages to bring their stamped letters to Santa to their local Macy’s store, or visit macys.com/believe to create and send a letter to Santa online. For every letter received now through Dec. 24, Macy’s will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish.

Sounds great right? But it gets even better…today is National Believe Day.

For National Believe Day, Macy’s is offering a double donation – for every letter received in-store and online on today (Friday, Dec. 12 only), Macy’s will donate an additional $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to an extra $1 million, above the existing $1 million campaign goal.

Friends if you can’t make it to Macy’s tonight, visit macys.com/believe to create and send a letter to Santa online.

Indy friends, come out to the Macy’s store in Castleton, do your part for Make-A-Wish by dropping off your letter to Santa. Rumor has it, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne will be there writing his letter to Santa some time between 6 and 8pm.

See you there,

-Pete
