JCC Offering American Red Cross Babysitter Training Courses this Summer

Are your older kids looking to earn some extra money this summer? Babysitting is a great “first job” for tweens and teens!

The JCC is offering American Red Cross Babysitter Training Courses this Summer — here’s everything you need to know:

The American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course was successfully launched in April and has proven to be a thorough, informative course. The JCC is offering it again for kids who want to earn some money by babysitting this summer and into the fall!

American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course Dates:

When: June 7 or July 26, 9 am-4:30 pm

Details: For ages 11-15

Cost: J Member: $80; public: $104

The American Red Cross (ARC) Babysitter’s Training Course is an interactive, comprehensive course that shares the latest information on child care, including age-appropriate activities, basic first aid, emergency protocols and more. Lectures and interactive classes make the course engaging, informative, and fun. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an ARC Babysitting Certification. Participants should bring a doll or stuffed animal and a packed lunch. Snacks will be provided.

American Red Cross Hands-Only CPR Course

When: July 14, 12:30-1:15 pm

Details: For ages 8+

Cost: J Member: $16; public: $20

Bring the whole family for a 45-minute lesson on how to call 911, recognize when CPR is needed, and perform hands-only CPR. This class will help kids and parents know what to do in emergency situations. Recommended for ages 8+ but all ages are welcome.

SwimSafe Junior Lifeguarding

Dates: June 12, 14, 19, & 21, 12-2:30 pm

Details: For ages 11 – 14

Cost: J Member: $85; public $105

Build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills to become a future lifeguard! Learn about prevention, fitness, response, leadership, professionalism and swimming skill development. Junior Lifeguarding will focus on developing swimming skills to help students meet lifeguarding requirements. Students will also learn lifesaving skills, such as in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first aid and breathing emergencies.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED

Dates:

  • June 13: 6-7:30 pm
  • June 24: 6-7:30 pm
  • July 14: 10:30 am-12 pm
  • August 4: 1-2:30 pm

Details: For ages 15+

Cost: J Member: $90; public: $114

Learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. This blended learning course includes an instructor-led classroom skill session and an online portion. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class session. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years; this course also meets OSHA/workplace requirements.
