The Indian Springs Academy of Music was founded in 1995 by owner, pianist Sheila Vail. Mrs. Vail’s commitment to high level music and performance training was formed by her own Conservatory education at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD., where she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance. Her creation of a community music school, offering unique programs that provide students a productive learning environment and performance opportunities has been the focus of her 40 year career as a professional teacher of music.
The Indian Springs Academy of Music offers private lesson study in piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, voice and guitar. Offerings also include music theory, harmony and history, quarterly recitals and ‘select’ events such as a Concerto Concert, various instrumental ensembles, and Certificates of Merit from the RCM Certificate Program.
One of the Indian Springs Academy of Music’s unique features is the flexible scheduling option. Enrollment is based on an annual calendar August to August and lessons may be moved anywhere
within the year to accommodate travel or extended.

All Indian Springs Academy faculty have been selected because of their innate teaching ability, their consistent, excellent and professional performance, and their unique presence as an inspiring mentor for young people. Student programs include private lessons, group lessons, parent consultations and recitals. The Adult Program schedules lessons per semester on a weekly or alternate week basis. The Academy’s flagship program, the “LessonsPLUS” Program gives students weekly private lessons, periodic group lessons and a variety of performance activities to inspire and motivate. A participating school in the RCM Certificate Program students may earn these prestigious certificates of merit in all instruments and voice from the very beginning through pre-conservatory levels.
