Get the Support You Need with Clermont County WIC

Did you know? WIC provides Women, Infants, and Children breastfeeding support, nutrition education, healthy foods, and referrals to other services.

WIC serves income-eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, as well as infants and children under the age of five years. Many working families qualify for WIC services, and all Medicaid recipients automatically qualify for WIC services. This video from the National WIC Association describes the type of support system that WIC can be for a participant.

Breastfeeding support is given through one-on-one educational interactions, a 24-hour breastfeeding hotline, breastfeeding classes, and issuance of breast pumps.  This year Clermont County WIC won an award for Most Breastfeeding Supportive WIC Clinic from the Ohio Lactation Consultant Association.

Nutrition education is provided by a registered dietitian at each appointment with individualized counseling. Educational tools, such as training cups, portion size plates, food diaries, and pedometers, are given to help reach nutritional goals.

Healthy foods are loaded onto an EBT card to use at grocery stores to help meet nutrition needs of women, infants, and children.

Referrals are sent to other agencies such as doctors’ offices, Help Me Grow, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health, and Head Start to connect families to other services.
