Fall is the best time of the year to visit Kings Island with your family

School is starting and fall is on its way, and you may be suffering from a case of post-summer blues. If you think of Kings Island as simply a summertime activity, you need to rethink everything.

Fall is the best time of the year to visit Kings Island with your family. The cooler temps, smaller crowds and crisp, bright-skied beauty of Ohio’s Largest Playground beckon — what are you waiting for?

We recently visited Kings Island on a cooler day, in the middle of the week, just before school started. It was our first time visiting the amusement park as a family, and we headed to Planet Snoopy, where my kids had a large list of “must-visit” attractions. Happily, my 8, 6 and 5 year olds all met the minimum height requirement, and were able ride many of the attractions without an adult.

But this was a day about family, so my husband and I took turns riding Planet Snoopy‘s best attractions with the kids. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options available in this park — and how much fun the rides were for parents, too! Our favorites were definitely the roller coasters — the Flying Ace Aerial Chase and Woodstock Express were absolutely thrilling!

With a newly walking 1 year old, we were able to go around the Character Carousel and Woodstock Whirlybirds. Info for each ride is available on the website, so it’s easy to plan out your day. Kings Island truly has something for everyone, and is one of those rare unicorns families of all ages can enjoy together.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without a visit to the Kings Mills Antique Autos. This beloved ride returned to KI just this year, and is something I fondly remember from my own childhood. My 8-year-old took the wheel, and took his newfound driving privileges very seriously.

It’s so much fun getting to be a kid again at a place I enjoyed as a kid. As an adult, life can get very hectic and difficult, and Kings Island is a place where even parents get to have fun. Riding roller coasters with my kids, screaming and laughing as we tumbled and turned, I enjoyed each and every minute of it all, and will treasure these memories of our first family trip to Kings Island.

Kings Island isn’t just a destination; it’s an experience. As the lazy days of summer become the crazy days of back to school, set aside an afternoon for some quality time (#kibestdayever) at this family-friendly attraction in Ohio’s Largest Playground.

To plan your family excursion, visit King Island’s website. Please note: the park’s fall hours vary by day and can be found here. If you’re looking for more fall fun, be sure to mark your calendars for The Great Pumpkin Fest, which runs weekends through Sept. 22-Oct. 27! {Read our recap of last year’s ‘Fest here!}
