Enjoy FREE performances, activities and games at OTR Arts Day

Cincinnati is a city that loves the arts, as evidenced by the number of high-caliber arts organizations in the area. There are endless opportunities for kids to get involved in the arts; on March 14, enjoy FREE performances, activities and games at OTR Arts Day.

Here’s a directory of events at OTR Arts Day:

Music Hall (10 am-4 pm)

  • 10-11 am: Silhouette Studio, Bacchanal Steel Band, School for Creative and Performing Arts Jazz Band and a Cincinnati Ballet performance group
  • 11 am-12 pm: School for Creative and Performing Arts Baby Grands and Revolution Dance Theatre
  • 12:30 pm: Bach and Boombox
  •  2-3 pm: Band in a Bus and the Cincinnati Opera

Throughout the day, Friends of Music Hall will provide different guided, docent-led tours that you can enjoy through using your cell phone as a personal listening device.

Washington Park (10 am-4 pm)

The Porch and bar area will be open with food trucks stationed and performances happening throughout the day.

Know Theatre of Cincinnati (10 am to 4 pm)

The theatre will be open 10 to 4 pm, offering tours of their Mainstage space set for “Alabaster” and offering a 10:30 am performance of “Story Time with Sparkle!”

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (10 am to 1 pm)

Interactive theater games and short dramatic readings happening throughout the day, 10 am to 1 pm.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (1-4 pm)

The lobby will be open from 1 to 4 pm with coloring sheets and crafts and participants will be able to meet actors and actresses in costume playing your favorite Shakespeare and classical theater characters. Guided tours will be available throughout the timeframe.

Art Academy of Cincinnati

Enjoy guided tours of the campus to see all that is happening. In addition, you’ll have a chance to learn the history of the college, experience exhibitions and make some art along the way. Kids will be able to sample Camp Art Academy, an award-winning, memorable art experience that balances technical instruction with freedom of expression.

Elementz

Elementz be open throughout the day with drop-in dance classes and visual art making. Participants will also be able to sing and record in the studio and try out the DJ equipment.

Rookwood Pottery

Take a behind-the-scenes tour for the community and watch pottery demonstrations throughout the day.

Pendleton Art Studio (10 am-4 pm)

More than 30 artists will open the doors of their studios from 10 am-4 pm to the community.

The School for Creative and Performing Arts

SCPA will perform “Motown Review” at 2 pm (Note that the school will be open just for the production).

Memorial Hall

Check out performances between 10 am and noon. At 10 am, you’ll enjoy Anaya Belly Dance and at 11 am, Cincinnati Public Radio will perform a musical presentation of Ferdinand the Bull with narration by Naomi Lewin and violinist Yan Izquiero.
