Elf Jr.

How many times have you and your family watched Elf this holiday season?  Do your kids have all of the catch phrases memorized?

“Santa! I know him!”
“I’m singing! I’m in a store and I’m singing!”
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” (My personal favorite.)

Well, if you love the movie, then your family will definitely enjoy The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s performance of Elf Jr. The Musical.

If you haven’t been to the Taft Theatre to see a show put on by the fabulous Children’s Theatre, I highly recommend it! They are in the middle of their 2016-2017 season, with Elf Jr. currently showing, and a fantastic lineup over the next few months (including The Wizard of Oz!). Perhaps your children have seen the Children’s Theatre on a field trip, as their shows have become extremely popular enrichment opportunities, but it’s also the perfect family outing for all ages.

While I’m personally a big fan of Elf and know the story well, my young children have yet to see it. Either way, the adorable story comes to life on stage with fantastic local actors and singers, a colorful, detailed set and a great setting to introduce your children to theatre. Elf Jr. is about an hour long (as are all of their shows), so it’s the perfect length to keep little ones entertained. Although, I will warn you that my two-year-old daughter spent some time dancing in front of her seat to the music, so you may want to be prepared for that!

Whether you’re already an Elf fan or maybe you need some “Christmas cheer” this season, Elf Jr. The Musical is a must-see production this month. We all smiled for the entire hour and I was extremely impressed with the quality of every aspect of the show. The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is doing wonderful things for our community as they bring these stories to life, and the passion of those involved is evident in the pure joy of the cast.

andrea-limke-bio-picAbout Andrea:

A native Cincinnatian, Andrea has experienced life in all four corners of this city. After growing up on the west side, she headed north to attend Miami University, then moved east to Hyde Park and now lives in Northern Kentucky with her family.

When she’s not playing trains and doing the “hot dog dance” as a stay-at-home mom to her two toddlers, Andrea is busy writing for Cincinnati publications and brainstorming ideas for her next children’s book! With a newfound passion for fitness and overall health, she spends a lot of time at her family gym and loves to play outside.

Andrea worked in education for several years and has a special love for children’s literature. She loves showing her children all our city has to offer and enjoys sharing her finds with other parents. Her favorite spots include the Cincinnati Zoo (although she steers clear of the bird house), her local library and any playground.
