Day Out With Thomas

My three year old is Thomas obsessed. So when I heard that Day Out With Thomas was coming to Cincinnati’s LM&M Railroad, I marked the calendar and reserved tickets.

Day Out With Thomas happened last weekend, and this weekend, you can choose from rides on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (Aug. 25-27). While there are several rides each day, you definitely want to reserve your family’s spots ASAP, as this is one of LM&M’s most popular events of the year! And after attending Day Out With Thomas last Saturday with my family, I totally understand why.

From the moment you pull in to LM&M, you know you’re going to be treated to something special. The train depot is totally transformed into Imagination Station, complete Sir Topham Hatt — and, of course, Thomas!

My son was absolutely delighted to see a real, life-sized Thomas at the head of the train, and any reader of Thomas stories knows how special it is for this cheeky blue train to get a chance at being a Very Useful Engine.

And Thomas proved himself on this ride, pushing the train for the first half, and pulling the train back to the station during the second. The ride itself was perfect, clocking in at around 20 minutes, which is about as long as any three-year-old wants to sit still on a train. A ride on LM&M Railroad is always an enchanting experience, and we thoroughly enjoy traveling through the rolling countryside of Warren County.

But the fun wasn’t over when we returned to the station; there was a veritable Thomas festival happening! There were bounce houses, Cincinnati Circus performers creating balloon engines (while on stilts), mini golf, train tables, Thomas tattoos and stamps, a place to meet Sir Topham Hatt, and lots of other Thomas-themed activities. My three year old was thrilled by the entire experience, and it was so sweet seeing him so excited.

A ride on LM&M is chance for your family to spend some quality time together, doing something that is sure to make any train-loving kid’s day. If you have Thomas fans in your house, you absolutely need to check out Day Out With Thomas this weekend; the pure joy on your kids’ faces as they enter the Island of Sodor will surely melt your heart!
