While Ohio is slowly reopening, it’s going to be a while before things return to “normal.” As we look toward summer, many of us are trying to think of fun family activities that are also safe. Drive-In Theatres are a fun, family-friendly activity with built-in social distancing!
Pack some snacks and head to these Cincinnati Drive-In Theaters for a fun — and safe — night out!
Holiday Auto Theater
Located in Hamilton, Holiday Auto Theater is a drive-in theater that has been around for 60 years and plays lots of family friendly titles (think Disney!). The theater just opened for the season and is following increased safety precautions, in its concession area and ticket booth. Read more about this Butler County gem here.
Hollywood Drive-In Theatre
College Hill has transformed its Hollywood Theater into a drive-in movie experience for the entire summer. Just 43 tickets will be available for each showing, and tickets are $20/car and must be purchased ahead of time. The drive-in will show family-friendly titles (and throwbacks!) such as The Princess Bride and Star Wars.
Starlite Drive-In
Way over on the east side in Amelia, Starlite Drive-in has been around since 1947 and is perhaps the best deal in town, offering two movies per ticket They regularly show the latest movies that are out in ordinary theaters and they also offer a snack and drink bar. For an extra $5, you’re also allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. This theatre is open as of last weekend — read their COVID-19 policies here.
Dixie Twin Drive-In
Up in Dayton, Dixie Twin Drive-In is a drive-in movie theater that is known for offering two huge screens that play 2 “first-run” movies per screen, per night. Movies start at dark and there’s a full Concession Stand of food, drinks, treats, snacks and meals for you and your family to enjoy. (The Concession lines will be marked to practice safe social distancing while you order food.) Melody 49 Drive-In
Located west of Dayton in Brookville, Melody 49 Drive-In opened in 1966 and boasts space for 1,100 cars. Showtimes are posted every Tuesday, and movies play rain or shine. While this theatre typically starts showing films in the spring, due to COVID-19, it hasn’t opened yet. However, on May 4, the theatre’s Facebook page announced it would be opening soon. Follow Melody 49 Drive-In on Facebook to stay up-to-date on when they will reopen for the season.
