Everyone know Aglamesis is king when it comes to ice cream in Cincinnati (three words: French Quarter Bonanza.) But Aglamesis is more than just an adorable local ice cream parlor; it’s also a confectionery, chocolatier, and, during the spring, a one-stop shop for all things Easter. My family recently visited the Montgomery store to check out all of Aglamesis’s Easter treats.
Did you know you can build your own Easter basket at Aglamesis?
You can — and this will surely save the Easter Bunny some time and work as the big day gets closer.
As you walk in, the whole store is decorated with pastels, bunny stuffed animals, baskets in every springtime hue — and candy. There are hand-molded chocolate bunnies and birds, jelly beans in every color in the rainbow, chocolate-dipped Peeps and large, intricately decorated filled eggs.
We were told the best-seller at Easter are the filled cream eggs, which come wrapped in colorful foil and can be purchased in either dark or milk chocolate. (In fact, most everything at Aglamesis is available in milk or dark, which means you can really customize the perfect basket for each of your kids.) We eagerly plucked several of these cream-filled eggs, making sure to try a Turtle and Opera Cream, which we had on good authority to be the season’s best sellers.
No basket would be complete without a chocolate bunny; and my kids picked large dark chocolate and small white chocolate bunnies. These guys are solid, high-quality chocolate — not the typical hollow numbers you’d find at the drugstore.
Aglamesis is a Cincinnati institution, and it was so fun hand-picking out own Easter basket. As the big day approaches, I highly recommend heading to Aglamesis to pick out some special treats for your little bunnies. (If you’re in a pinch, they offer pre-filled baskets, too!) I have a feeling Aglamesis Easter baskets will become a tradition in our house, as these chocolates are so rich and decadent, there’s no way we’ll ever go back to Hershey’s.
