Every year, there are certain holiday traditions my family looks forward to. The holiday show at Krohn Conservatory is at the top of the list. Between the cheerful trains, whimsical structures from Applied Imagination and cheerful holiday blooms, Krohn Conservatory is transformed into something magical each year. This year’s A Crystal Holiday is no different, and I dare say it’s the most enjoyable holiday show we’ve ever seen!
A Crystal Holiday at Krohn Conservatory is open and a must for Cincinnati families this holiday season.
From the time you walk into Krohn’s main showroom, you’ll be transformed into a shimmery, sparkling winter wonderland. It’s a total sensory experience with piney evergreens, bright poinsettias and chugging locomotives swirling around as you wander around.
For my 4 year old, the trains are the main event, and they don’t disappoint: he immediately recognized Percy and James, and delighted in the long cargo trains in tracks both above and below us. Keen eyes will spy a Santa train, and a flashing railroad crossing will draw kids in.
For me, the Applied Imagination buildings are what make Krohn’s holiday display something truly special. And this year, the team really does go all out: the main showroom features hand-made replicas of Union Terminal, P&G Towers, Roebling Bridge and Tyler Davidson Fountain, among others. But that’s just the beginning: walk through the rest of the conservatory and you’ll discover National Park buildings, including a stunning sculpture of Mt. Rushmore.
Krohn Conservatory is one of Cincinnati’s best local gems. And A Crystal Holiday is an homage to everything unique and beautiful about our city. As the holiday season takes off, be sure to put Krohn Conservatory’s A Crystal Holiday on your family’s “must” list. Slow down and savor the season at this enchanting holiday exhibit.
