8 Cincinnati holiday shows you can enjoy online

The holiday season obviously looks a bit different this year, but 2020 can’t cramp our style here in Cincinnati! Lots of local organizations have gotten creative and moved their beloved shows into the virtual sphere.

So grab a hot cocoa and cozy up on the couch — here are 8 Cincinnati holiday shows you can enjoy online:

Bah Humbug! A One-Man Christmas Carol and The Velveteen Rabbit, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

This is unlike any version of A Christmas Carol you’ve seen before. TCT has condensed this classic story into 50 minutes of non-stop entertainment. The catch? Just one actor plays all the roles. Chris Logan Carter is a force to be reckoned with during this show, which will have you engaged (and awestruck) the entire time. Stream it via Broadway on Demand through Jan. 4 for $18.95. (PS: TCT’s The Velveteen Rabbit is also streaming via Broadway on Demand.)

Holiday Pops, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra

John Morris Russell and the Pops are bringing the holiday cheer to your home in our 2020 finale of the Live From Music Hall digital concert series. Join the Pops online and experience all of your favorite sounds of the season – for free. Watch here FOR FREE through Dec. 31.

A Christmas Carol, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Experience Charles Dickens’s timeless tale in a new/old way. Beloved local actor Bruce Cromer will take to the radio for an intimate tour de force, as he performs all the roles in this one-man version of A Christmas Carol on WVXU-FM. Tune in for a FREE radio performance on WVXU-FM Dec. 23 at 8 pm or Dec. 24 at 7 pm.

“Krampus Claus,” Know Theatre

In Sean P. Mette’s audio play, we learn that the Grinch isn’t the only one who wants to steal Christmas. It turns out that a central European demon named Krampus has kidnapped Saint Nicholas. Will Saint Nick escape in time to deliver the presents? Or will Krampus dash the dreams of the world’s children? What will happen?! Stream Krampus Claus on demand at knowtheatre.com/radioknow for just $5.

“The Nutcracker,” by Madcap Puppets

It’s The Nutcracker, puppet theatre stye. The creative geniuses at Madcap Puppets have added their signature spin on this classic for side-splitting silliness and fun. Check out the live Zoom event on 7 pm Dec. 22 for just $10 at madcappuppets.com/donate.

The Nutcracker, Cincinnati Ballet
