5 Things to do this Weekend

This weekend’s activities are delightfully “summer:” outdoor festivals, parties and events happening at some of our very favorite parks and museums. So grab your family and make it a summer weekend to remember!

Dayton Mini Maker Faire
Saturday, July 16 from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Carillon Historical Park
If last week’s feature about this Dayton gem got you inspired, we highly suggest visiting Carillon Historical Park this Saturday! The Mini Maker Faire features robotics, blacksmithing, rocketry, sewing, steam engines, 3D printing, live demonstrations and hands-on activities — plus lots of friendly competition!

Nostalgia Weekend

It’s no secret we adore Carol Ann’s Carousel, and this weekend is a celebration of this nostalgic piece of Americana. Ride the Carousel, play retro games and enjoy loads of family friendly fun!

Spongebob Square Pants Character Meet-and-Greet
Saturday, July 16, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at The Beach Waterpark
If you’ve got a little Spongebob fan in your fam, head to The Beach this Saturday for a fun meet-and-greet! Afterwards, stay for slides, zip line fun and funnel cake — you can read all about our this water park here.

Nighttime Garden Party
Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. at Highfield Discovery Garden
This special evening party will feature nighttime crafts and games and visits with live nocturnal animals in the garden! Joining the party will be the Cincinnati Astronomical Society geared with telescopes and binoculars for some stargazing fun! Cost is $5/child; register by 7/14.

Magic in the Air
Sunday, July 17 from 1-4 p.m. at the Taft Museum of Art
You won’t want to miss this month’s Sunday Funday, which features the magic of Brett Sears, card tricks and a DIY magic wand. Say Abracadabra! (In case you missed it, we waxed poetic on the Taft’s Fundays in this week’s feature.)

Summer will be over before we know it — let’s get out there and make it an amazing July weekend! For more family friendly happenings in Cincy, be sure to peruse our Online Calendar, which is updated daily with the best local events.
