5 Things to do the Final Weekend of February

February really is the shortest month — blink, and it’s over! It’s the last weekend of this sweet winter month, and there’s plenty of things for families to do! From children’s theatre to Broadway productions, maple sugar festivals to all things Thomas, we’ve rounded up the funnest, family-friendliest events happening in Cincinnati this weekend.

Here are 5 things to do the final weekend of February:

School of Rock: The Musical
Feb. 21-March 4 at the Aronoff Center
This February, Broadway in Cincinnati is bringing one rockin’ – and rollin’ – musical to the Aronoff Center: School of Rock – The Musical! Based on the hit film starring Jack Black, this family-friendly musical features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie and musical theater’s first-ever kids’ rock band.

Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical
Feb. 21-March 25 at The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on Red Bank Road
Polkadots follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying, to segregated drinking fountains, Lily’s quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polkadot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by Civil Rights pioneers Ruby Bridges and The Little Rock Nine, Polkadots serves as a colorful history lesson for the world, reminding us that our differences make us awesome, not outcasts.

Maple Sugar Days
Feb. 24 and 25 at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve/Ellenwood Nature Barn
It’s maple sugaring time! Bring your family to celebrate the awakening of the trees as they prepare for spring with the very traditional craft of making maple syrup. Enjoy this delicious weekend of tastes, crafts, demonstrations and hikes. PS: This festival is FREE!

A Garden of Pure Imagination
Open Tuesdays-Sundays through March 11 at Krohn Conservatory
Need a dose of spring? Krohn Conservatory’s candy-inspired exhibit features vibrant tulips, cheerful daffodils, fluffy hydrangeas and fragrant hyacinths that will dazzle your imagination with all the sweet flavors of spring! Giant candy props sprinkle the landscape to make you feel as if you were in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
