5 Things to do in Cincinnati for National Ice Cream Month

July is National Ice Cream Month, and here in Cincy, we take ice cream very seriously. From 5Ks to French Quarter Bonanzas, ice cream is a big deal in the Queen City!

Here are 5 things to do in Cincinnati for National Ice Cream Month:

1. Run a 5K

Hey – you have to burn off all that ice cream somehow! And the Ice Cream 5K on July 8 at Sawyer Point is the perfect way to do it. This family friendly 5K takes runners along Cincinnati’s riverfront parks, and features ice cream on the course and after-party. It’ll also feature a baby/toddler crawl and kids’ 1 mile fun run. The best part? All proceeds benefit the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

2. Go on a cruise

Sundays are Ice Cream Social days at BB Riverboats this summer. Sundays in July (except for July 23rd), climb aboard BB Riverboats for a sweet sundae social! Each passenger will enjoy scooped ice cream and their choice of assorted toppings on this 1 1/2 hour afternoon sightseeing cruise. The Captain will guide your afternoon with interesting commentary about Cincinnati and the surrounding area. It is the perfect way to spend an afternoon with the family!

3. Go to story time

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 16th at Blue Manatee with stories, songs, and a bit of silliness with blue manatee! Our own Miss Kelli will lead us in an adorable, but not edible, ice cream craft. Cost is $3 per child and this event is geared towards kid ages 2 and up. Register in advance, as space is limited at the brand-new store!

4. Catch a sweet movie

On Wednesday, July 19th, the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is playing at Washington Park. Bring a blanket and some sweet treats to enjoy during the free flick!

5. Tackle a bucket list

Our Cincinnati Ice Cream Scavenger Hunt will take you on a tasty tour de force of the Queen City, which Yelp’s Creamy Whip Bucket List is a must for any whippy dip enthusiasts. (Our top scoop in Cincy? The sundaes from Aglamesis – you’ll have all the nostalgia feels as you dip into a hand-scooped sundae served in a stainless steel bowl. If you have a large group, the French Quarter Bonanza is epic!!)
