Fall is here and it’s time to kick off another show-stopping season with The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati! And it’s not just any regular season — this year marks 100 fabulous years of family-friendly theatre, and the 2019-20 MainStage season is celebrating with a season of strong and confident kids!
The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s world-premiere of Casper The Friendly Musical flies into the Taft Theatre October 12-21 and kicks off TCT’s 100th season. This show is a must-see for families, and tickets are available now.
Here are 5 reasons you must see The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s Casper the Friendly Musical:
1. This show is delightfully fun and not at all spooky
Halloween can be a scary time for kids, but this is a ghost story with the friendliest little specter around! Casper is a fun way to celebrate Halloween with the youngest Cincy kids — this show is deal for kids 4 and up. Also: families are encouraged to “test-drive” their Halloween costumes and wear them to the performances!

2. Casper is a fun spin on current pop culture
In TCT’s world-premiere musical adaptation, everyone’s favorite friendly ghost and his three uncles live in the family mansion. Fifty years after their lives were cut short in a lightning storm, Magdalena, their former maid, re-enters their (after)lives! Now a famous Reality TV Host, she’s looking for the mansion’s deed and believes it will lead her to a “great treasure.” She hosts a live million-dollar treasure hunt in the mansion. It’s up to Casper and his new friends, the contestants, to save the mansion and discover the greatest treasure of all!
3. Casper is accessible for all Cincy kids
In addition to being a kid-friendly (read: not scary) Halloween show, The Children’s Theatre has made Casper incredibly accessible, offering special sensory-friendly and sign-language interpreted showtimes. The sensory-friendly performance on October 16 is intended for individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as children (and adults) with other special needs who may benefit and includes adjustments to lighting, sound and special effects. See starred showtimes** below for accessible and sensory friendly options.
4. Season tickets are still available — it’s the best deal in town!
The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s 2019-20 MainStage season promises to be full of childlike wonder and fun, starting with the friendliest ghost-boy around, Casper (October 12-20, 2019), the rag-tag crew of Peanuts kids in A Charlie Brown Christmas (December 7-15, 2019), the plucky redhead and her friends in Annie Jr. (February 29-March 8, 2020) or the extraordinary magic-maker Matilda (April 25-May 3, 2020). This season’s shows will surely inspire and entertain audiences both young and old — but especially children.
