5 Fun Events in Cincinnati to Celebrate this Weekend

May means many things: festivals, the start of summer, fun holidays and more! It’s a fun time of year to live in Cincinnati. We perused our Online Calendar and found several events in Cincinnati this weekend worth celebrating!

Here are 5 fun events in Cincinnati to celebrate this weekend:

1. Flying Pig Marathon

Flying Pig Weekend is a big deal in Cincinnati — it’s a chance to showcase the healthy side of Porkopolis! There are many ways to participate: get inspired at the P&G Health and Fitness Expo, delight in the Flying Piglet and proudly cheer on runners during Sunday’s race. Oh — and Blue Manatee is hosting a free Flying Pig Story Time on Sunday, during which runners get 10% off when they show a race bib!

2. Cinco de Mayo

This weekend kicks off festival season with Cincy Cinco, the Queen City’s celebration of El Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy dance, culture, kids’ activities – and lots of authentic Latin American cuisine at this free festival at Fountain Square.

3. The Arts

Cincinnati has a vibrant arts scene; there’s always something happening. This weekend, it’s a kid-friendly art class at the Weston: Families Create! “Collector’s Collages”! Artist Michael Scheurer will bring everyone together by bringing anything and everything together! Your kids will work with him to assemble fantastic, colorful collages. All workshops are $5 per child and conducted at the Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register.

4. Free Comic Book Day

Did you know that Saturday is Free Comic Book Day? Celebrate by visiting the Clifton Library and choosing two free comics (while supplies last)!

5. Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is next weekend, but there are lots of ways to start celebrating right now. Kids can make a one-of-a-kind vase and glass flower at Neusole Glassworks on Saturday, and The Silver Diva is hosting a Mother’s Day Craft-O-Rama on Sunday. Of course, the best (and most adorable) way to celebrate Mother’s Day is during the Cincinnati Zoo’s Zoo Babies event, which showcases the newest additions to the Zoo family!
