4 Ways to Celebrate Star Wars Day in Cincinnati

Star Wars Day 2017 IGDoes May 4th mean anything to you? If you’re a Star Wars fan it should! May 4th is known as Star Wars Day, and this year, it’s definitely a day worth celebrating. With a new film set to release this December and a fan-friendly exhibit opening this month at the Museum Center, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg Hoth glacier!

Here are 4 ways to celebrate Star Wars Day in Cincinnati:
With the Reds

May 5th and 6th is Star Wars Weekend with the Reds! This package includes an exclusive Stormtrooper bobblehead plus your ticket to your choice of games May 5 or May 6. And, don’t miss characters from the iconic film series at the ballpark. Will the Reds have the force on their side against the Giants? Only one way to find out!

At the library

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County never fails to impress with its themed activities. May 4th is no exception; there’s Star Wars Bingo at Oakley, a Star Wars/Cinco de Mayo fiesta at Norwood (how fun does that sound?), a DIY Mini BB-8 at Montfort Heights and, my personal favorite, a Princess Leia Hairbuns Hairband craft at Hyde Park.

Cincinnati Rollergirls style

On May 6th, join the Cincinnati Rollergirls at Xavier University’s Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse for a double-header! One ticket gets you into both games, plus special, Star Wars giveaways. Come early to score inflatable light sabers for kids (or adults…) and commemorative Cincinnati Rollergirls Star Wars Night magnets (while supplies last). There will also be appearances by Star Wars characters, a costume contest and limited-edition Star Wars Cincinnati Rollergirls t shirts!

Under the stars

You’ll have to wait until June for this one, but it’s perhaps the most Star Wars-y way to celebrate Star Wars Day: under the stars during Summer Cinema Night at Washington Park! On June 14th, you can catch a free showing of The Force Awakens courtesy of the Cincinnati Museum Center. {If you’re really into star-gazing, be sure to check out Men in Black on July 5th — the Cincinnati Observatory is leading star-gazing and plant spotting after the movie!}

Of course, the best way to honor Star Wars Day will be May 26th when Star Wars and the Power of Costume opens at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Tickets are on sale now; get yours today! Until then, May the Fourth be with you now and always, Cincinnati Parents!
