Williams House at Lindner Center of HOPE

Adolescence, from the perspective of those directly participating and those on the peripheral, can be a challenging time. It is time where a young person is reaching milestones in development, yet still growing into the person they will ultimately be.

But what’s a family to do when forward progress halts and they see their adolescent struggling, suffering and even regressing due to mental illness and/or substance use? Families need a resource — one that can meet them where they are, help figure out what is going on and offer strategies for moving forward from there.

Williams House is an adolescent comprehensive diagnostic assessment and treatment program at Lindner Center of HOPE, located in Mason, Ohio. This safe, specialized and intimate setting focuses on intensive assessment and treatment for patients age 11 to 17 (18 if still in high school).

The Williams House Treatment Team becomes a “brain trust” for each family and other treatment partners working with the family. Psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, clinical consultants and other team members devote their focus to figuring out what is going on and what to do about it. They meet the patient where they are and provide a soft place for them to land. Because each patient is unique, testing and care is individualized with a lot of attention from doctoral level providers. This customization, allows the team to work with complex and complicated clients that may not have found success in other treatment settings.

Amid a comprehensive mental health center of excellence, Williams House at Lindner Center of HOPE offers advanced diagnostics, which can include psychopharmacologic testing, and specialized evidence-based treatment options such as hypnosis, trauma-focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
