The Madeira Library has a New Kids’ Area!

We go to the library a lot. As the weather gets colder and crummier, you’ll find us at the library on a weekly basis.

My kids enjoy story times and library programs, yes — but their favorite thing to do at the library is play. The library is basically one big playroom, complete with all the books they could ever dream of. And, recently, our favorite branch upped its game with a revamped Kids’ Area!

The Madeira Library has a new kids’ area — and it’s really something. Where this old, amphitheater-style story time area used to be, has been transformed into wide, open play space.

The walls are lavender. There’s a giant world map rug and Winnie the Pooh banner.

Trains, Duplos and Thomas galore.

A wooden kitchen area complete with a refrigerator, oven, table and chairs, and lots of healthy, very realistic looking food.

There are puzzles and games on a big, easy-to-reach shelf.

There’s still the beloved wooden puppet play house, a favorite of my kids. They love sneaking in there to cuddle with stuffed animals and read.

All of these snazzy new additions make the library that much more fun to visit. And, at the end of the day, anything to get our kids excited about the library, is a great thing!
