Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip 2016

As summer break approaches, you might be getting nervous about how, exactly, you can get your child excited to read! Between family vacations, day camps and the overall distractions of summer, how can you get your kids motivated to hit the books?

Scholastic to the rescue! Scholastic, the company behind your kids’ favorite school book fairs, is coming to Cincinnati with its Summer Reading Road Trip! For the first time ever, Scholastic is taking its message on the road with its Summer Reading Road Trip in support of the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge.

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is the biblio-behemoth’s free online reading program that help kids take a “summer leap” into great books. Parents can sign up their kids to join the challenge here. This year’s theme is “Be a Reading Superhero” — how will you help your kids discover their inner super-reader powers?

We recommend getting your kids pumped for summer reading at Blue Manatee Children’s Bookstore this Saturday, May 21. From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., the Scholastic Reading Bus will be parked at Blue Manatee, and your kids’ favorite authors and characters will be there to join the fun, too! Your kids will love meeting Clifford the Big Red Dog and fantastic authors such as Troy Cummings, Katherine Kenah, Mary Knight and Jason Tharp.

It’s the perfect event for kids of all ages — and parents will have a blast, too! This event is totally free — and to celebrate, we’re giving away a prize pack from Scholastic over on our Contests page!
