Redsfest and holiday gift ideas

Winter can be a tough time for baseball fans. But last weekend our spirits were lifted by attending the Redsfest at the Duke Energy Convention Center.

It’s an annual event held on a Friday and Saturday in early December. There’s a kid zone with some activities on one floor and another entire floor for autographs, photos with players, memorabilia and merchandise, on field seminars for kids, a main stage with hourly events and a celebrity wiffle ball home run derby.

We were pleased to leave with 5 autographs Friday night, as well as other player sightings and the opportunity to pitch against a radar gun. It’s an extremely fan and kid friendly event and it’s fun for kids to be in such close proximity to players they watch on TV and at the ballpark.

Maybe Spring is still a ways off on the calendar, but we definitely left the event with a spring in our step!

p.s. Still have holiday shopping to do for a Reds’ fan? Check out the new All-Star game merchandise online and at the pro shop by the ballpark. Or for a youngster buy them a $25 membership to the Redshead Kids Club, which includes many perks that can be enjoyed throughout the baseball season!
