Perfect Mountain and Beach Mountain Review

Hooray!

Since my last post, the local weather has improved dramatically, with sunshine, rising temps and melting snow.

So forgive me if I’m a little late with this report, but hey, better late than never, and maybe this will come in handy for next year.

Personally, I love hitting the “slopes” at the end of the season, when it’s actually pleasant to be outside. First, we visited Beach Mountain on Saturday, since we had Groupon passes that were about to expire. We went for the snow tubing, although they also have an area for just snow play. The tubing hill has many lanes, but is about a third as long as the ones at Perfect North. You also end up feeling a bit “sandwiched” between the parking lot, waterpark and the highway. But it’s a good introduction to tubing for 3-5 year olds.

Sunday, we went to Perfect North for the third year in a row. If you’re seeking a more natural and scenic destination for the day, then this is the place for you. When you’re facing the tubing lanes or slopes, all you see are hills, trees and snow. The tubing and parking areas are separate from the skiing and snowboarding areas, so you don’t have to deal with the other stuff if you don’t want to. But, on the other hand, it’s easy to do it all in a day if you want, or just check out the scene at the main lodge or the action on the slopes.

And something else to keep in mind for next year, Perfect North hosts an annual Spring Carnival in early March. We missed the events yesterday, but they sounded like a blast to participate in, or just watch: Dummy Downhill, Decorated Cardboard Box Judging and Downhill Race, Garbage Bag Race and Slush Pit.

Check the websites below for the latest information on both locations.
