Next Monday is basically a holiday in Cincinnati. People will skip work and school, a big parade will take over Downtown and there will be fireworks.
That’s right: it’s Opening Day!
The Reds take on the Phillies at 4:10 p.m. in Great American Ballpark. If you don’t have tickets to the big game, don’t worry! There are lots of other ways you can participate in this time-honored Cincinnati tradition.
Here’s our hour-by-hour guide to Opening Day:
10 a.m.: Get your gear at the Red’s Fan Shop
It opens at 10, so get there bright and early!
11 a.m.: Take a ride on Carol Ann’s Carousel
During baseball season, the Carousel opens at 11 a.m., Tuesday – Sundays. (It’s usually closed on Mondays; however, Opening Day it’s open to commemorate the occasion). Kick off baseball season with a celebratory ride (or two).

11:30 a.m.: Drive to OTR
On the way, stop by Holtman’s for donuts and coffee (we recommend their plain yeast donuts — amazing!). Park at the Washington Park garage on 13th Street.
12 p.m.: Head to Findlay Market
You’ll see the Parade kick off, and be able to pick up some lunch for later.
1-2 p.m.: Explore OTR
There are a lot of really great businesses in OTR — Park + Vine, Suder’s Art Store and Jack Wood Gallery — and of course, places to eat like Senate and Venice on Vine.
2-4 p.m.: Relax at Washington Park
Spend the afternoon at Washington Park’s annual Opening Day Celebration! There will be music, lots of family-friendly games and activities, plus ballpark fare like hot dogs, burgers and funnel cake. And, Washington Park insiders confirmed that several City Flea vendors will be there selling baseball themed items! It’s going to be a great day.

4-7 p.m.: Game Time!
Spread out a blanket and make yourself comfortable for the big game, which will be broadcast on a giant LED board in the Park.
5:30 p.m.: Do the 7th Inning Stretch with a Cold Treat
You might not be able to get soft serve in a collectable helmet, but there will certainly be soft serve or at least a snow cone for the kids.
7 p.m.: Game Over
Pack up and take the elevator or stairs to your (conveniently located) car parked in the Washington Park garage. Call your neighborhood LaRosa’s to order dinner!
