Hidden Gem: Home of the Brave Park

Home of the Brave Park Main TextI don’t know about you, but I am so excited it’s spring. Instead of dressing my kids in boots/hats/heavy coats and carefully planning my afternoons around wet/cold/inclement weather, I can just grab baseball hats, sunscreen and drive to a playground!

And, there are so many great playgrounds here in Cincinnati!

So in the spirit of spring, Reds Opening Day and all-things-baseball, today I bring you our recent favorite:
Home of the Brave Park. (Because baseball = “The Star Spangled Banner” (and the home of the brave) = Home of the Brave Park). That was Julian’s logic, anyways.

Tucked away in lovely Loveland/Symmes Township, this park features some of my favorite amenities:

  • A wet and dry playground,
  • Squishy, kid-proof turf,
  • Tons of slides and stuff to climb,
  • Unique structures, and
  • Lots of shade.

There are two main play areas: one designed for kids 5-12, and one for younger kids under 5. My kids adore both play areas — and the “older” space is just fine for my younger crew.

This park has an earthy aesthetic, with “tree trunk” slides and playhouse and lots of natural browns and greens. There are so many climbing opportunities here: ropes, “rock walls,” ramps and various types of steps.

This park reminds me of Eden Park Playground with its tree-trunk play structures!

The pièce de ré·sis·tance, though, is the giant tunnel side. This thing is not for the faint of heart (AKA, me) — it’s really tall, windy and fast. My kids can’t get enough of it.
