Dinosaurs are coming to COSI!

Something colossal is arriving at COSI, Columbus, Ohio’s dynamic Center of Science and Industry.

Starting on Nov. 18, 2017, the new American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery at COSI, a permanent addition, allows you to get up close with dinosaurs, such as the massive T. rex.

The AMNH Dinosaur Gallery will include installations of AMNH’s renowned dinosaur exhibits, including interactive experiences and specimens from its world-class collections. You’ll learn how their evolutionary legacy lives on today, and never look at dinosaurs the same way again!

What’s in the exhibition?
  • A full-size cast Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton
  • A piece of 100 million-year-old fossilized Burmese amber—with an ancient feather sealed inside
  • An 8-foot-long titanosaur femur
  • A climbable, full-scale model of an Oviraptor nest discovered in China, complete with 20 eggs!
  • A six-foot-long mechanical rex skeleton model that walks in place, illustrating how experts in biomechanics and paleontology are teaming up to estimate the typical speed and gait of a rampaging tyrannosaur.
  • Spectacular displays of dinosaur casts, from the three-horned Triceratops to the dome-headed Pachycephalosaurus, illustrating the latest theories on the purposes of unusual horns, frills, crests, and domes found on many dinosaur skulls.
  • A 15-by-10-foot recreation of the famous Davenport Ranch Trackway. This collection of sauropod and theropod dinosaur prints was unearthed in Texas by scientists in the 1930s and 1940s.
  • The cast of a rex furcula, or wishbone. Once thought to be unique to birds, wishbones are now known to occur in some bipedal, meat-eating, non-bird dinosaurs, making it clear that the presence of a furcula doesn’t mean an animal could fly.

COSI is located at 333 West Broad Street, in Columbus, OH
