Cincinnati Skating School

If the Winter Olympics inspired your family to hit the ice, then you need to check out Cincinnati Skating School! Cincinnati Skating School provides quality skating instruction with certified, professional instructors in a safe and fun environment. No matter your ability or age, everyone can learn to skate!

Owned and operated by the Figure Skating Club of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Skating School is located in Sports Plus (Sharonville), which houses two indoor NHL-regulation size ice rinks. On a Sunday evening, my daughter and her friend were ready for their first and FREE intro lesson. My daughter is a year-round swimmer, but she was excited for this new experience on top of the water.

Note: Safety First! Make sure to have the correct gear before beginning: warm/waterproof clothing, heavy socks, gloves, bike helmet and knee/elbow pads (if needed). And Cincinnati Skating School provides skates if you do not have your own.

The knowledgeable and super awesome instructor, Dori (“Just keep skating!”) began with safety basics. Then the girls moved onto skating forward, backwards and around. Of course, there were some falls, but the girls had so much fun!

Not even 30 minutes into the lesson, the girls graduated to games — basketball and catching bubbles. The lesson was designed for their physical ability; and the girls definitely progressed fast. Plus, I had so much fun skating, I want to take an adult class.

Looking ahead, on Sunday, February 18 at 11am, families can try a FREE ice skating lessons at Fountain Square. Dress warm, bring friends and plan to have fun as the Cincinnati Skating School Excellence on Ice coaches teach you the basics of ice skating. Admission/rental fees apply.
