5 Ways to Enjoy the Arts this Weekend in Cincinnati

If there’s one thing we’re known for in Cincinnati, it’s our rich, diverse arts scene. (Okay, so we are also known for flying pigs and chili and ice cream and Oktoberfest!) This weekend, the arts at the top of the marquee, with a great sampling of various mediums from which to choose. From the ballet to the theatre, mixed media to glasswork, this weekend is all about the arts!

Here are 5 ways to enjoy the arts this weekend in Cincinnati:

Coppélia

Date and Location: Friday, Oct. 21-Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts
Genre: Ballet

Combine Frankenstein with the Nutcracker, add a dash of comedy and a heavy dose of whimsy — and you get CoppĂ©lia! It’s been 15 years since the Cincinnati Ballet has performed CoppĂ©lia — so don’t wait to get your tickets to this weekend’s performances.

Alice in Wonderland

Date and Location: Friday, Oct. 21-Sunday, Oct. 23 (final 4 shows) at the Taft Theatre
Genre: Musical theatre

Ohio Renaissance Festival

Date and Location: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22 and 23 in Harveysburg
Genre: Theatre

It’s the final hurrah (or huzzah?) for the 2016 Ohio Renaissance Festival — and if you haven’t made it out to Harveysburg, it’s the perfect weekend to go! This weekend’s theme is Halloween, and there will be lots of fun, family friendly events to go around. Haunted House

Date and Location: Sat., Oct. 22 from 1-2:30 at Brazee Street Studios
Genre: Glass/3D art

Make a one-of-a-kind craft at this one-of-a-kind studio in Oakley! During this class, you and your kids can design and create your very own glass haunted house this year. Finished projects will be free-standing glass houses. No experience necessary. Ages 6+. $40.

Pumpkin Blow

Date and Location: Sunday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Neusole Glassworks
Genre: Glass/3D art

With the help of the professional glassblowers at Neusole, you can blow your own glass pumpkin! For ages 5 and up. Reservations required by phone or email: [email protected]. $40/pumpkin.
