5 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Cincy

While Cincinnati may be a proudly German city, we also sport some serious Irish pride! From St. Patrick’s Day parades to shepherd’s pies, there’s no shortage of love for Ireland here in the Queen City.

We did our homework and compiled the top 5 kid-friendly ways to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day this year:

1. Make a St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock — or Rainbow — at Brazee Street Studios

It’s no secret we love Brazee Street Studios, and there are some really fun, St. Patrick’s themed activities on their calendar! Kids get to create their own glass pendant, bowl, dish, suncatcher and more!

2. Attend the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Every year, Cincinnatians can celebrate the life of one of Ireland’s favorite Saints in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade! The parade begins at Mehring Way & Central Avenue. (corner of Paul Brown Stadium) on Saturday, March 11 at 12 p.m. Wear your green and march for Ireland!

3. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Librarycincinnati library

There are lots of (free) holiday-themed events happening at library branches all March long. Here are a few:

  • STEAM Stars: Get ready for St. Patrick’s Day by making a no-sew 4-leaf clover pin at the Downtown Main Library! Free! All supplies provided.
  • DIY Shamrock Window Cling:Keep celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by creating your very own shamrock window cling at the Delhi Library. Starting at 3:30pm. Grades K to 5th.
  • Shamrock Chalk Art: Keep the St. Patrick’s Day fun going and stop by the Delhi Library to make your very own shamrock chalk art. No registration required. Teens only.

4. Enjoy Irish Cuisine

Here in Cincinnati, there are lots of places to get your fish n’ chips (or shepherd’s pie). From Hap’s to O’Bryons Irish Pub you can enjoy delicious Irish fare all year long! Most of these places also offer kid-friendly items like chicken fingers and mac n’ cheese — so there’s something for even the pickiest of palates.

5. Go Green

Gluten Free Lasagna with organic marinara and local beef

Ok — so this last option isn’t specifically “St. Patrick’s Day.” However; here in Cincinnati, there’s no better way to “go green” than shopping at Harvest Market! This green-friendly general store sells eco-friendly goods, delicious coffee, nutrient-packed smoothies and bowls, gluten free and vegan treats, a rotating lunch menu, grab and go grub from local businesses, soy candles, art work, cbd products and more!

So grab your crew and celebrate St. Patrick! Be sure to share your pics with us on Instagram (#swohparent) — and wear your green to avoid any naughty leprechaun pinches!
