Happy first weekend in August! While school may be starting up again soon, there’s still lots of summer fun to be had! Take this weekend, for example, which features 5 uniquely “Cincinnati” events. From goetta to paddle boats, soak up every last ounce of summer at one of these events in Cincinnati this weekend!

 

 

Glier’s Goettafest

Thurs., Aug. 4 – Sun., Aug. 7 at Festival Park Newport
Experience this family-friendly, appetite-satiating, weekend-long festival devoted to enjoying a regional specialty: goetta. Go getta yourself some of this Cincy staple!

Lumenocity

Fri., Aug. 5 – Sun., Aug. 7 at Taft Theatre
The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra presents LUMENOCITY: RE-IMAGINE for its fourth and final year. Catch it before it’s glowing, glowing gone! The final festival features an all-new indoor location at the historic Taft Theatre in downtown Cincinnati, new music and visuals, and a new outdoor Block Party. Due to this year’s indoor location, a number of family friendly, daytime shows are being offered!

Great Parks Day

Sat., Aug. 6 at Winton Woods and Glenwood Gardens
This month’s Great Parks Day is perhaps the best yet, with free admission and activities all day long at Cincy favorites Winton Woods and Glenwood Gardens. Think free golf, boat and bike rentals, concerts, nature and fitness programs and more!

Milford Food Truck Rally

Sat., Aug. 6 from 3-10 p.m. in Downtown Milford
Nothing says “summer” like food trucks! Let your inner foodie loose at this festival, which features over 20 local food trucks! Kids will especially enjoy c’est cheese (a grilled cheese food truck!) and Catch a Fire Pizza, which specializes in wood-fired pies.

Paddlefest

Sat., Aug. 6 from 6 a.m. – noon at the riverfront
Participate in America’s largest paddling trip! The course starts at Schmidt Field in Cincinnati’s East End and goes out at the Gilday Park in Riverside. Kids will love watching all the boats, canoes and kayaks on the Ohio River!
