Free, free, free! This weekend features some of the funnest FREE events of the summer. From kid-friendly adventure expos to cardboard boat regattas to Sunday Funday at the Taft Museum, there’s something for everyone this weekend in Cincinnati. Oh — and did we mention all of these activities are totally, 100% free?

Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo

Fri., July 14 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Winton Woods
Head to Winton Harbor for the largest free outdoor environmental education event for children in the Midwest! This unique opportunity will encourage kids’ interest in the great outdoors and recreational activities. Come out and discover more than 50 exhibitors and interactive activities. Presented by Great Parks and Green Umbrella. Oh — and this kid-friendly festival is totally FREE.

Shakespeare in the Park

Shows this weekend: July 14 at Eden Park’s Seasongood Pavilion and July 16 at Washington Park. Both shows start at 7 p.m.
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues its tradition for over a decade of performing Shakespeare in the Park in communities across the tri-state area with The Merry Wives of Windsor and Romeo and Juliet this summer! CSC provides one of the largest programs for free outdoor Shakespeare in the nation, both in number of stops and the radius of the region visited. Admission to Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s Shakespeare in the Park Tour is free and open to the public. Shows run regularly through Sept. 4 at various Greater Cincy locations.

Crazy Cardboard Boat Regatta

Sat., July 15 at VOA Park in West Chester
BOATS! BOATS! BOATS! Cardboard boats, that is. The MetroParks of Butler County presents the 8th Annual Crazy Cardboard Regatta on Saturday, July 15th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Voice of America Park in West Chester! Do you think you’ve got what it takes? Then, sign your team up to build your own cardboard boat and join the amazing race around the lake! Sea legs aren’t quite ready; you say? No problem! Vendors, entertainment, activities, and more await you upon shore. So, come on out for some summer family fun, and don’t forget to keep calm and boat on!

Children’s Theatre Workshop “Once Upon a Time”

Sun., July 16 at 2 p.m. at Summit Park
This fun and interactive WorkShop will bring new life to classic fairy tales. Students will gain a historical context, be introduced to primary thematic elements, and have the opportunity to bring some of their favorite fairy tales to life. This event is open and free to the public. Recommended for children 2-6th grades.

Chill Out Funday

Sun., July 16 from 1-4 p.m. at the Taft Museum
Spend this Funday relaxing with art! Tour the museum to find peaceful landscapes, complete some art puzzles at the Art Cart, and make a craft to take home. Learn how reptiles and amphibians manage their temperature during a presentation by Cool Critters at 2 p.m. Chill out even more with yoga in the garden from 3-4 p.m. No reservations required. FREE!
