5 activities to kick off the first weekend of November in Cincinnati

We’re in that in-between time: Halloween is over, but we’re not **quite ready to bust out the holiday decorations. The solution? One of this weekend’s festive concerts or fun events! If you’re looking for something seasonally appropriate and just plain fun to do this weekend, you’ve come to the right place!

Here are 5 activities to kick off the first weekend of November in Cincinnati:

7th Annual All-City Boychoir Festival
Sat., Nov. 4 from 1-6 pm
This event is festive and fun — and FREE! The 7th annual festival features conductor Mollie Stone, an expert in authentic music performance from around the world, who will teach the boys South African music. All boys grades 1-12 welcome! All attendees receive a free t-shirt and snacks. Don’t miss the festival’s free showcase concert at 5 pm.

Mt. Washington Pumpkin Chuck
Sat., Nov. 4 from 12-5 pm at Stanbery Park
Say “bye-bye” to Halloween in style! Launch your leftover pumpkins from one of four trebuchets in Stanbery Park. Event also includes live music, kids games, food, craft beer, and, of course, a great viewing area to watch pumpkins fly!

Fiona’s Feelings Launch Party
Sat., Nov. 4 from 10:30 am-noon at Blue Manatee
Is there a better way to spend a weekend day than celebrating #TeamFiona? Celebrate the release of Fiona’s Feelings, a new board book from Blue Manatee Press starring the world’s favorite baby hippo at Brazee Street Studios! Written by Blue Manatee’s own Dr. John Hutton, Fiona’s Feelings features photographs of Fiona by the talented photographers at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens. Hear the story of Fiona from our friend Thane Maynard, director of the Zoo, and share a delicious Fiona cake from Sleepy Bee Café as you pick up your copy of Fiona’s Feelings.

A Musical Zoo
Sat., Nov. 4 at 10 and 11:30 am
Linton’s PB&J Sessions are pure fun any time of the year – and you’ll want to catch one of the final few shows of the fall series, STAT! A Musical Zoo takes listeners through a veritable orchestra of animals! Listen! Is that a bird or a flute? Is that a swan or a cello? Is that a fish or a piano? Come hear and find out on an adventure through our musical zoo!

Antique Christmas
Opens Nov. 3 at the Taft Museum
We know – we *said* we wouldn’t include any holiday events, but the Taft’s annual Anqiue Christmas display opens this weekend, and it’s a fun and festive event that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces! Escape to a winter wonderland of Christmas past at the Taft’s annual display of antique ornaments, decorations and toys. Admission and parking at the Taft is always free on Sundays – so we recommend checking it out on a Sunday afternoon.

**Be sure to check back next week – we’ll be getting into the holiday spirit with our epic list of 50 Free Things to do in Cincinnati this Holiday Season!
